Twenty Six By Lillie Elsworth

It’s flabby in here

sausages sausages

clip your hangnails

don’t ignore your warts

get to know the cheeses and blood

of your body

that fold to you

and holds the weekend beer

and the beans soaked in vinaigrette

and the ingrown hairs

smear test smear test

every September

because the HPV clings on

with everything else.

Good body. You’re twenty-six today.

Happy birthday.
